I worked on Past on Your Doorstep – Future in Your Hands. This Project has been fundamental in the development of the interactive element in my practice. It was a genuine success with both the workshop participants and the general public who used the praxinoscope. The praxinoscope was a great icebreaker with the general public, often proving to be the starting point of a conversation which flourished into more detailed discussions about historical matters surrounding the park.
Background
I am a sculptor and community artist specialising in interactive art. My work has a strong technical foundation married to a determination to make art approachable and accessible for all. I gain enormous enjoyment and satisfaction from creating an environment where those new to art become bewitched by it's magic. My infinite fascination with old mechanical movements and mechanisms is the fertile ground from which I draw many of my ideas. I strive to remove the pretentious elements often found in art and operate under the philosophy of and if I get a smile then it is a success.
